About Blue Anchor Ink
My name is Erik Ortiz. I began my journey as a tattoo artist in 2006, and I've been an artist all my life. Ever since I could hold a pencil, art is all I ever wanted to do in life, and now I get to express it in the most permanent and amazing way. Tattoos have always been a part of my life. I was captivated by the technique, the way skin could hold ink and how it was the most direct way to express oneself.
I did my extended research on the basics, cross contamination, set ups, and ways to perfect my ability to create a strong design. I figured I had the drawing skills from birth, all I needed to know was the equipment and how it worked. Needless to say I picked it up quickly, but I never bit more than I could chew. If I was asked to do a piece I felt I was not capable of doing, I would simply say I'm not the guy for the job. With patience, determination and focus, I'm proud to say I'm comfortable doing any tattoo I'm asked to do. I don't label myself as a "black & gray", "Japanese", or "color-only" artist. I prefer to be universal and extend my drawing skills; never settle, always expand. Thank you for taking your time to get to know me a bit and I hope to meet one day.
